An employee mentioned that the new CEO has decided not to lock up high-end guitars anymore. Apparently, all the expensive models, including Gibsons, are now out in the open. So, brace yourselves for an increase in scratch-and-dent guitars!
Wow, that sounds risky. I can already imagine all the dings and scratches that’ll end up on those guitars. I mean, I get wanting people to try them out freely, but with instruments that pricey, you’d think they’d want to protect them a bit more.
Yeah, that’s wild. I remember when they used to lock up anything over $1,000. It’s gonna be a nightmare when people start treating those Gibsons like budget guitars. Also, I feel like it’s an open invitation for theft or accidental damage.
Not to mention kids just grabbing them and going to town without knowing how to handle a high-end guitar properly! I’d be nervous to buy anything from them if I know it’s been handled by who-knows-how-many people.
I can see both sides, though. As a buyer, it’s frustrating when you can’t actually try out an instrument unless you ask an employee. Still, they could at least set some boundaries. Maybe they’ll bring back locking them up once they start getting more damaged.
It’s gonna be a “buyer beware” situation, for sure. I mean, if you’re dropping $5k on a guitar, the last thing you want is one that’s been scratched up by careless shoppers.
