I’m about to start learning guitar and will be taking lessons soon, but I’m not sure which guitar I should get. My budget is around $350, and I’m really into playing J-pop music. Any suggestions on what guitar would be a good fit for a beginner like me?

Yamaha Pacifica is a great choice. I started with one myself, and it worked for everything from rock to pop. If you want something with a bit more of a unique look and feel, maybe check out Ibanez’s beginner models as well. They’re sleek and comfortable to play.
I agree with both suggestions. If you’re looking to really capture that bright, clean J-pop tone, though, maybe go for a guitar with single-coil pickups, like the Squier Stratocaster. It gives you a lot of clarity, which would suit J-pop really well. Also, it’s in your price range and a solid option for starting out.
