How do you switch from clean to distortion quickly?

Hi! I’m new to playing guitar and have been wondering how I can switch from a clean sound to distortion really fast?

You can do this with a multi-channel amp and use a footswitch to change between channels.

If you’re just using a clean amp, you could put a distortion pedal in front of it and turn it on and off when you need it.

There are effect pedals that let you switch with your feet. You plug the guitar into the distortion pedal and then into the amp. When the pedal switch is off, you’ll get the clean sound. To get the distortion, just stomp on the pedal box to turn it on. You can adjust the settings on the pedal to get the sound you want. Pedals are also called stomp boxes.
