When you first started learning guitar, did you begin with an acoustic or an electric?
I started with acoustic when I was about 13. My parents got me a cheap one for my birthday, and I had no idea what I was doing. It was all about learning basic chords and trying to get my fingers to stop hurting. Eventually, I transitioned to electric once I felt more confident. But I think starting with acoustic made me stronger because it’s harder on the fingers!
I went straight to electric. I always wanted to play rock and metal, so it just made sense. I started on a Squier Strat, and it was a game-changer. I think if I had started with acoustic, I wouldn’t have stuck with it as much because it’s not the sound I was after. But yeah, power chords and distortion were what hooked me!
Acoustic for me! It was actually my dad’s old guitar, and he taught me a few simple songs. There’s something about the warmth of an acoustic that feels special. I eventually moved on to electric, but I still play acoustic a lot perfect for those campfire jams!
I started with an acoustic too. My first few months were all about strumming basic folk and pop songs. After a year, I saved up for an electric because I was really into bands like Nirvana. Acoustic gave me a solid foundation, but switching to electric definitely opened up new possibilities. Both have their charm!
Electric all the way! I got a guitar as a Christmas present when I was 15, and I just wanted to learn all the rock riffs. I think if I had started with acoustic, I wouldn’t have had the same motivation. There’s something about plugging in, cranking up the volume, and just rocking out that acoustic can’t match.
