I just picked up my very first guitar yesterday! I have some background in playing the saxophone and piano, but I’m completely new to the guitar world. I’ve been using an app called Yousician, which seems to focus on acoustic and electric guitars can I use it with my classical guitar too? Also, any advice on where a complete beginner should start when learning guitar?

Classical guitar has its own unique feel compared to acoustic or electric, but you can still use Yousician for it. The fundamentals like chords and finger exercises should apply to all types. Just keep in mind the sound might not match up exactly, since Yousician tracks through a microphone and classical guitars have nylon strings.

Yeah, fingerpicking is a great idea! I started on a classical guitar myself, and while Yousician is cool, I’d also recommend checking out some YouTube tutorials specifically for classical guitar. There are so many good ones out there for beginners, and they’ll teach you how to really make use of those nylon strings.

Totally agree with everyone here! Yousician is great for getting the basics down, but since classical guitar is your instrument, look up a few classical etudes or pieces to try once you’ve mastered the chords. It’ll keep things interesting and help you develop good technique early on.
