What guitar playing helps you vent those tough emotions?

I tune all my strings to A, because A is for angry and let rip.

Wait - do you mean Open A tuning? Or all strings tuned to A? If the latter…then that’s pure witchcraft! lol

@Arin
I mean tune all strings to A.

I don’t use my guitar as an emotional support device. My style is cool and understated, and on the rare occasion I feel negative emotions, I calm and center myself before making music.

I envy you! In most cases I center myself through music and sometimes the music centers me.

@Arin
That’s okay, too! I just like my own playing a lot more when I’m in a positive mood.

Drop D, and just play piss-easy stuff that is dirty toned and awful. Really satisfying.

Eat a handful of mushrooms, think about something beautiful, play whatever comes out.

p.s. It helps to have a stereo rig and headphones

Drop D. Open 6th string while playing a melody on the 4th and 5th.

Throw in a few power chords for the chorus. You got yourself a song.

Also D minor is the saddest key so I like playing in that when I’m feeling down.

I usually try to find chords that match the feelings, or maybe a progression that feels like it kind of tells the story around my feelings. Sometimes it’s metal, sometimes it’s my attempts at chord melody. I’ll try some leads as well, but my heart is in chord land.

Palm muted slabs of filth. Hitting those strings hard and playing till my arms burn.
