I’m just starting out with guitar and want to invest in one that will last me a long time. Thinking of an acoustic that can also be plugged into an amp. Any good brands or models you’d recommend? Thanks!
Try playing one with an amp before you buy. Personally, I can’t stand the sound. Acoustic sounds great on its own, though!

Depends on what you mean by a ‘good guitar.’ Even guitars around $1000 often use basic Fishman pickups. If you want a solid setup, look into LR Baggs with a multi-piezo system, especially one with stereo output.

I just can’t get used to that odd blended sound. Haven’t heard one I actually like yet.

A lot of rock songs with acoustic guitar use piezo pickups. If you’ve heard a song where the acoustic really cuts through, it’s probably coming through a pickup, not a mic.
I’ve always liked Takamine. I had a Jasmine (their budget model), and while the sound was great, the neck was way too chunky for my small hands. Recently tried some mid-range Takamines in a store—GD93CE and P3DCE—both were really nice. If I were buying today, I’d probably go for the GD93CE. Best way to know for sure is to try a few out yourself!
Your best bet is to go play a bunch of different guitars. Yamaha and Eastman offer great value for the price. If you’re looking at higher-end options, Martin, Taylor, and Gibson are all excellent.
