Need help picking a power adapter for my pedal

Just got a Boss ME-90, and while it’s awesome, it’s left me confused about where to go next with pedals. Since it runs on batteries, I never had to think about a power supply before. But now I’ve bought a pedal that doesn’t use batteries, and I’m stuck trying to figure out what plug to buy. Any advice on what kind of adapter I should get for just one pedal? I don’t want noise and don’t plan on getting a multi-output supply because I’m only powering this one. Suggestions?

Truetone One Spot is a solid choice.

A 9VDC adapter with a 2.1mm barrel plug and center-negative polarity should work fine for most pedals. Most analog pedals don’t use much power—usually under 100mA. Digital ones can range from 100-250mA but rarely need over 500mA. One thing to check is the pedal’s specs, which might be printed on it. Right-angle connectors can be more convenient too. While no setup is entirely noiseless, a single pedal on a decent adapter shouldn’t have any noise issues unless the adapter is faulty or poorly made. By the way, the ME-90 also runs on 9VDC, so you might eventually consider powering it with the same supply to save on batteries.

Check the pedal’s manual or look for a label near the power jack. It’ll usually say something like 9V and show a diagram indicating polarity (most often center-negative). If you use the wrong adapter, it might not work or could even damage the pedal. What pedal are you trying to power?

You’ll likely need something like this: 9V 1A Pedal Power Supply Adapter, DC Jack Center Negative Sleeve Positive, Barrel 5.5mm x 2.1mm, One Spot Charging Adaptor PSU Wall Charger for Guitar Effects Pedal Stompbox, Some Electronic Keyboards : Amazon.co.uk: Musical Instruments & DJ. It should match the requirements for your pedal.
