Did We Stop Caring About Rule 2?

I’ve noticed a lot of guitar players posting videos outside of the usual Friday posts on this forum lately. Did we stop following rule 2, or am I just missing something?

This forum hardly seems moderated anymore. Between posts like ‘I’ve been playing for 12 seconds, rate me’ and ‘how do I play this tab’, it’s not as enjoyable as it used to be.

This forum isn’t just barely moderated, it’s barely active. I forgot I even joined, and I can’t remember the last time a real lesson was posted. If it weren’t for rule breakers, there would be hardly any posts at all.

@Devin
Right. It’s not even a lessons forum anymore, it’s more like a ‘I could’ve googled this’ forum.

The other guitar forums are the same way. I really wish there were more actual lessons posted here, even if it’s just riffs or licks from YouTube that I might have missed.

Same here. People post their guitars to show off, and it just doesn’t feel like this forum is well moderated. Too many off-topic posts and ‘what’s this chord’ questions.

Yep, ‘what’s this chord’ and ‘are my hands too small’ – that’s half the posts.

Just downvote what you don’t like. Upvote what you do. And if you think the forum could be better, make it better and post. Meta posts about the rules don’t really help anyone.

But Applebees or Chili’s is still okay, right?

That was pretty funny.

It’s about not posting anything too good. :wink:

Guess I’m a rule follower then!

How about posting videos of your playing? That way, we can make sure any advice given has proof behind it. It would separate the serious players from the trolls.

Huh?

If everyone had to show proof of their skills before giving advice, we wouldn’t get so much bad advice here.

@Nico
But then we’d have bad players giving bad advice.

Ah, you’re one of those people who thinks rules should be followed no matter what. Forget about being useful or interesting, rules have to be enforced all the time. Alright, Karen…

I mean… usually on other forums, rules are meant to be followed, right? I was just asking because I was planning to post and wanted to make sure I didn’t break any rules. Didn’t mean to start a whole debate.
