Am I supposed to play each note exactly with the clicks? Or is there more to it? I’m feeling really lost.
You can match the clicks with each note, but you can also play different rhythms. For example, you might play two notes per click or stretch one note across two clicks.
Later on, once you’re more comfortable, you can even try playing slightly behind or ahead of the click to explore timing.

You can follow the clicks with one note per beat, or mix it up by adding notes between the clicks.
Metronomes can mark individual beats, groups of beats, or entire bars. It’s up to you whether you want to practice basic patterns, runs, or entire songs with it. Decide what works for your practice session!
I usually use the metronome to keep the tempo steady during improv. It helps me fit in other parts of a song while keeping everything in sync.

So if I’m playing a solo, should each note match the bpm of the clicks?
@Parker
Not exactly. Think of the clicks as your beat, like a super simple drumbeat or tapping your foot. You don’t have to play every note on a click—just use it to stay in time.
@Parker
Exactly! Although, my metronome doesn’t click—it beeps. Just saying.

Haha, I’m using a mobile app version, so mine clicks instead of beeping!
