Can I keep my guitar out of the case and near a window?

I just got a Samick guitar and usually keep it in the case, but I don’t play as much because it’s a hassle. Would it be fine to leave it out in the living room near a big window? I don’t want to mess up its sound or look.

Just make sure you’re playing it often, maybe three hours a day, and it should be fine.

Three hours a week feels more realistic for me :sweat_smile:.

If the room has a steady temperature and it’s not sitting in direct sunlight all the time, you should be good. Also, try flat wound strings. They might feel and sound even better.

I’ll give those strings a shot :sparkling_heart:.

Samick makes really good guitars. You’ve got a nice one.

I agree. Here’s a photo of one I love: https://placehold.co/600x400.png.

Thanks! It sounds great and looks amazing :relieved:.

You could get a dust cover or a good stand. That way it’s easier to grab and play without worrying about sunlight too much. Just avoid keeping it in strong heat.

Also, check under the bridge for any protective foam. If it’s still there, carefully remove it. Before you do, make sure to mark where the bridge is so you can place it back perfectly. By the way, what year is your guitar?

@Piper
Thanks for the advice! I don’t have a stand yet but I’ll get one soon along with a dust cover. Right now it’s either in the case or just sitting on the couch. How do I safely remove the foam under the bridge?

@Micah
I’m not sure about the year, but the model number is JZ2WR.
